Project description

Already known as a leader in sustainable development, Cégep Limoilou became in 2017 the first cegep to have a community garden on its roof! A part of the roof was already covered with thyme and grasses, in addition to hives and solar panels. But to make it more appealing for students and employees to go outside, part of the green roof has been transformed by Les Urbainculteurs into a community garden!

42 gardens – a total of 141 m2 – were assigned to the students and employees, as well as Les P’tits Loups day-care center (located in the cegep), the Environment Committee and Maison Mère-Mallet. Gardeners and planters have access to a shed and tools, as well as automated irrigation in their garden. No worries!

On another level of the roof, we also created a living willow dome to bring some shade and coolness and invite cegep staff – whose lounge is just next door – to go out on the roof terrace.
