Project description

Cultivated since the 1850s, the huge garden area of Cataraqui was abandoned since the 1970s. The National Capital Commission gave us, in 2012, the mission to revive the 15,000 ft2 of the former vegetable garden. From garden plans and information available on the crops of the early twentieth century, we redesigned sections, amended the soil, planted and maintained the garden, from which all crops were given to Moisson Québec.

In this garden between history and modernity, the aesthetic is combined with production and conventional crops grow alongside more original ones. In the center of the main section, we created a natural pergola made with living willow, a dome of 20 feet in diameter.
