Fertilizing questions

Should I use fertilizer if I use compost?

Yes. Fertilizer, obviously, is a fertilizer, providing nutrients such as phosphorus, potassium and nitrogen, in order to have strong, disease resistant and productive plants. Compost is rather an amendment, it improves the soil structure by adding organic materials, which increases the retention of water. It also promotes fertilization, but is much less concentrated than fertilizers.

By growing in pots, it is important to add compost to the soil early in the season, and then add fertilizer two or three times in the summer, since the pot content is the only pantry of the plant.

What are the seaweed and fish fertilizers for?

Liquid fertilizers based on seaweed or fish are great ways to improve your soil and complete your granular fertilizer. They promote root growth and provide nutrients to plants and growth hormones. Fertilizers we have in store are compatible with organic farming.

Staking questions

What to use when staking tomatoes?

Tomato cages are practical, resistant to weathering and do not necessitate to attach the plants. Simple stakes work well for plants that do not rise too high or in areas that are not too windy. Ideally, choose metal stakes, or bamboo or wood that is resistant to moisture.

You can also build stakes in inverted V-shaped and connect their summits with a rod or a strong rope, and stretch a cord between the base of your plants and the rod.
